Job Summary:
3V Fasteners, a leading manufacturer of precision, aerospace threaded fasteners, has immediate opportunities on our 1st shift for an experienced metallurgical testing technician for our Corona, California facility.
The Metallurgical Test Technician will perform prototyping, testing, and metallographic functions with minimal supervision to meet 3V fasteners process and product development needs and objectives. This position includes the programming, set-up and operation of all lab equipment under minimal supervision. This position will be responsible for documenting results, findings, and observations, adhering to laboratory procedures, guidelines and work instructions. This person will be responsible for communicating with other departments in conjunction with jobs and projects being worked on.
Job Responsibilities:
• Performs fastener testing for standard, special and new products with minimal assistance. Testing involves any and all required by the customer.
• The Metallurgical Test Technician is able to perform the following tests with minimal assistance:
Tensile Testing and Proof Loading
Metallographic Techniques
Evaluation Metallurgical Mounts
Hardness Testing
Recess Torque Testing
Stress Durability
Micro Hardness Testing
Double Shear
Plating Thickness
Single Shear
Calibration of Measurement Tools Including But Not Limited to Micrometers, Protrusion Blocks and Dial Calipers
Magnetic Permeability
Stress Rupture Testing
Locking Torque
Wrench Torque
Grinding Burn Evaluation
Coating Thickness X-Ray Method
• Complete assigned laboratory tasks, functions, special projects and jobs. Document and report laboratory data, results and findings. Follows 3V Fasteners quality guidelines, procedures and work instructions.
• Communicates and works effectively with members from all areas throughout 3V Fasteners to provide technical assistance when necessary or called upon.
• Perform product and material testing to required test methods.
• Use various types of inspection techniques and equipment to ensure high quality products.
• Read, understand and follow blueprints, work instructions, procurement specifications and laboratory protocol.
• Complete laboratory job service requests following the 3V Fastener Quality Manual.
• Perform assigned tasks, functions, special projects and jobs according to agreed schedules.
• Assists with providing solutions to lab related issues.
• Keeps work area in a neat, safe and orderly condition with a daily and weekly cleanup process.
• Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED.
• Good communication and basic math skills.
• Familiarity and experience with various gages, testing equipment and measuring equipment.
• 5-7 years relevant working experience preferably in the aerospace fastener industry.
